Great couple of days in San Francisco
AudioDraft arrived to San Francisco on Saturday evening after almost 20 hours of flying and dodging the ashcloud. Right away on Sunday it was time for the Music Hackday demos at Fisherman’s Wharf. Over 30 innovative music hacks were made during one weekend. Among these were for example “Bragging Rights”, which is a cool hack based on Last.fm data. It tells you which one of the two given users have listened to a band earlier. So basically it gives you bragging rights over your so called cool and hip friends who claim to have listened to bands before they where popular.
On Monday was our main event for this visit to the Valley: SF MusicTech Summit. There were a lot of great panels going on but the two most interesting ones for us were the Scaling panel and Elevator Pitches. On the Scaling panel there were people from MySpace Music, Twitter, Pandora, Blank State and SoundCloud talking about issues with scaling. At least one message was clear: cloud does not work for everyone. If you have a steady usage on your site and you don’t have a lot big bursts, forget the cloud. Elevator Pitches on the other hand had great people presenting their ideas. Thanks to the SF MusicTech Summit organizer Brian Zisk, we also got a change to give our one minute pitch and we got awsome feedback from the crowd. There were also a Case Studies & Performances session where Moldover was playing a selfmade controller. See the video from 33:00: it’s amazing! During the whole MusicTech we got to talk to a lot of cool people in the tech and music scene.
On top of this we have had many great meetings around Silicon Valley with really interesting people and businesses. Can’t wait what the rest of the week will bring along!
