Dragons’ Den MyFirstMillion is an innovative educational product with fun gaming features which helps users to learn and develop the skills & knowledge for Success. There are three aspects to the user journey which starts by the user rating themselves on their skills:
1. Theory: Users will have access to interactive e-learning modules on marketing, finance, strategy etc.
2. Practice: Users will also have access to a game simulation, where users play the role of a Dragon. Each case in the game follows this format (please see rules video at the link below)
https://vimeo.com/48362964
- Each player is given £100,000 to start with to invest across 3 business cases and the objective is to make a million!
- They then start at level 1 and have to watch a pitch from the popular TV Series – Dragons’ Den
- Following the pitch, they will be given mini challenges to test the skills and knowledge
- Next, they need to decide if they want to invest based on their gut instinct
- They then need to follow our proprietary methodology through a worksheet by scoring the business of various fundamental factors
- At the end of the scoresheet, they get a summary of their worksheet against their gut instinct
- Based on this, they can decide to invest their money or not
- During the investment process, there is a bit of negotiation that goes on with the entrepreneur.
- Players are also allowed to take a loan if they run out of money
- Once they have invested, the player will watch another video on what the Dragons thought about the pitch
- They then get to see what the computer thought
- Finally, they will see what happened to that business a few years later and whether they made any money from their investment (if they invested)
- At the end of each case, there are learning points which are presented to the player
- They will then see a progress dashboard that shows them
o Their position on a leaderboard
o Their skills, knowledge and success meters
o Their bank balance
- Based on their performance in the case, they will then be able to unlock a bonus round where they will get ten more questions which gives them the opportunity of improving the meters and balance.
- After the quiz, they will move on to the next level and start the next case
- Level 2 also has a questions round where player can ask questions to the entrepreneur
- Level 3 also has a consultant round where players can pay money to consultants to get more information and advice
3. Feedback:
- Throughout the cases and e-learning, players will receive feedback as voiceover or pop-ups
- They will also have access to an overall progress dashboard
- Once they have complete the theory and practice element, they will have the option of completing a mini-exam
- Players who complete the mini-exam will be awarded a normal or distinction certificate based on performance.
