Score A Video: Choose Your Mood - 2nd Edition

Design brief

The aim of this Challenge is to demonstrate the incredible power of music! We want you to score a video according to a mood of your choice. You may choose 1–3 moods (specified below).

The winners of this Challenge will gain visibility among our clients. We will promote your music as part of our ‘The Power of Audio' campaign in 2017 and this particular film will be part of our very first “The Power of Audio” event. The winning entries will help us demonstrate how music can directly impact the mood and unique feel of a product. Your tune will also be available for exclusive licensing by clients.

THE CHALLENGE:
Imagine you are scoring a movie and your task is to make the scene come to life. There are the 3 moods you can choose from and the aim is to ‘twist’ an old memory three different ways.

1. SAD. Imagine your main character is looking through old family footage and finds this film of his beloved mother who just recently died. Your music needs to reflect that sadness and longing he’s feeling while watching this footage.

2. HAPPY. Imagine this was a joyful event in the main characters life and the entire family is looking through the footage with only happy warm memories in their hearts. The trick is to imagine how you’d feel looking back at happy memories from your childhood. Be careful not to make this comical.

3. HORROR. Imagine this footage was found at a murder scene. We want the audience to believe the family in the film was part of something horrific. Try to think of creative ways to make the film creepy and ominous. Make sure your music plays really well with the visuals.

You may submit 1–3 entries in 1–3 moods. Note that you are not guaranteed to score higher by submitting many different moods, so please stick to what you know best. In other words: quality before quantity! The most important thing is that you really capture the essence of the mood(s) you choose. There shouldn't be much room for interpretation. High production value is crucial, so please avoid any cheap, generic sounds. Please specify the mood of your choice in the entry title.

Please download the video ‘Birthday’ and compose your tune to it. When you upload your entry, your music will be instantly synced to the video online.

For inspiration you can also check out the video we created from the last challenge which was very similar to this one.

Just like in the reference video, we will edit together the different moods. IMPORTANT! That's why your compositions has to be 25–27s. long. The length is set in stone so please make sure you stick to it.

The best of the winning entries will gain extra visibility among our clients.

NOTE! NO CREATIVE NAMING PLEASE. IF YOUR CHOSEN MOOD IS “HORROR”, YOUR TRACK TITLE SHOULD ALSO BE “HORROR”. This makes our lives a bit easier while rating your entires.

The Challenge winners will get the chance to upload their work to 'Instant Tracks'.

'Instant Tracks' on Audiodraft is a pool of custom music instantly available for licensing. By uploading your tunes to 'Instant Tracks' you will be able to create a bank of music that can be used immediately as is, or with modifications according to a Sourcing User's needs. This way you won't always have to start working from scratch when there's a production on Audiodraft that matches your skill set. (Please keep all your sessions well stored and organized!)
